Dashboards Overview

Understanding dashboards and how they visualize data in Kogenta Connect.

Dashboards are the visualization layer of Kogenta Connect. They combine data from one or more workflows and present it through interactive widgets - maps, charts, tables, metrics, and filter controls.

What dashboards do

A dashboard lets you:

  • Visualize workflow results through maps, charts, tables, and metric cards
  • Interact with data using filters, slicers, and cross-filtering between widgets
  • Organize layouts across multiple pages with grid or map-based canvases
  • Automate refreshes with scheduled updates on an hourly, daily, or weekly basis
  • Share insights by generating public links for external viewers

Canvas types

Each dashboard page uses one of two canvas types:

  • Grid layout - a flexible grid where you place chart, table, metric, and slicer widgets in a structured arrangement
  • Map-based - a full-screen map with geospatial layers, with additional widgets overlaid

You can mix canvas types across different pages of the same dashboard.

Dashboard status

Dashboards have two status states:

StatusDescription
ActiveThe dashboard is live and can be viewed, refreshed, and shared
PausedThe dashboard is inactive - scheduled refreshes are suspended

Key concepts

  • Creating Dashboards - how to set up a dashboard, add pages, and link workflows
  • Widgets - the visual components that display data (maps, charts, tables, metrics, slicers)
  • Calculated Datasets - dashboard-level data transformations using SQL or JavaScript
  • Relationships - connect queries to build a data model with fact and dimension tables
  • Cross-Filtering - interactive filtering between widgets based on relationships
  • Refresh Schedules - automated data refresh on a recurring schedule
  • Sharing - generating public links for external access
